Sorry to keep you all hanging so long again. What happened to another week?!
First off, an update on the documentary. Did I mention how hard the guys in the edit suite at 5 Oceans Media are working? I’m not actually sure they go home at night! Even without the final graphics and music, it’s looking amazing. I’m also pretty excited to announce that Sir Richard Branson is going to be doing the voiceovers, and I'm really looking forward to meeting him!
You all know how I used to talk about missing being able to go for a walk whilst I was out at sea. Well, after 2 ½ days and nearly 50km of walking, I’ve had more than my fill of walking for a while! Last week I headed off with my brother Tom and a big heavy pack for a few days (see pic below), to walk the Cooloola great walk (thanks Justin and James for the boots, they were brilliant!). What a great track and what a treat to go three days without being recognised! The cool views down the beach and the reflections on the river in the early morning made the stiff legs at the end more than worth it. Ok fine, stiff is a little inaccurate. I was waddling like a duck for a few days afterwards!
Since then, I’ve been back and forth to Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Sydney, out on the water again (I miss sailing in big seas!) and spending any spare time at home, slowly working my way through my stack of letters and cards and replying to them. It’s a big, but fun job and I can’t help marveling at how some actually got to me, with addresses such as ‘ Jessica Watson, Little sailor girl, Sunshine coast, Australia or ‘Jessica Watson, Around the World Sailor, Buderim, QLD’. One was simply addressed Jessica Watson c/o the Prime Minister of Australia and got to me via the Federal Government, State Government and Council offices!
Thanks again to everyone who sent something and sorry for the slow replies.
It’s not long now till Ella’s Pink Lady’s going to be heading off again to the Sydney Boat Show, so we’ve also been kept busy with a few jobs and more un-loading, ready for her trip back down the coast. You know how boats are, there’s a never-ending list of jobs to do.
The driving is going well. I’ve pretty much got the whole staying between the white lines thing worked out! And other achievements for the week include making a start on some maths, missing a plane flight and walking around Sydney for the day wearing my watch upside down! Oops.
These days, when someone asks Mum whether she’s glad to have me home, her reply is… ‘Yes but it was a lot quieter when she was away!’

I saw you in Dymocks Melbourne this week. Thanks for coming and taking photos and signing.
BUT I live only 10 k from Somerset College where you will be talking and signing on Aug 18. Wild horses won't keep me away. I have 4 grand children at Somerset and they are full of the fact that you will be there. We have had a lot of discussions over the last year about what you were doing through and they are very proud that you chose their school for a signing. You have a heavy schedule ahead, stay focussed and good luck in the future Peter
what is the title of Jessica's book??? Could anyone kindly reply me, please?
Thanks
Matteo
Hi Jessica,
Just heard the good news about “The Pink Lady” and I’ll bet you’re tickled about that. You deserve it, you and the lady have become a pair. I’m really glad for you. Hope everything is going well for you and your not to frazzled by the Book Intro. Knowing you, it will take a lot more than that to get you frazzled!!! Take good care of yourself and write when you get a chance. How did your driving turn out? Loads of love and hugs. God will continue to hold you in the palm of His hands, and the Angels will keep you safe, and I pray that He will guide you through your up-coming years, Jessica. Your faithful friend, fan and follower Michael 75) from Kingwood, WV
i have posters of you in my room every where!
I got your book a day ago and I am finding it difficult to put it down.
What I have read up to now, you are near the equator, has been totally amazing and has opened my eyes to the true Jessica Watson and all the problems you had leading up to your departure.
You are truly an amazing young lady and a great writer to boot.
Today, 4th August, my local book shop tells me your book will be available on October 1st in Ireland and the U.K but not before this date :c
Barnes and Noble in NYC expect to have your book available on their shelves on 7th September. I cann't wait
Best wishes

As I reflected upon the fact that these hard times had not truly been passed on to us by Jessica through her blog and that it wasn’t just the physically tough sailing that made up the waypoints of Jessicas journey of achievement my appreciation grew another notch and once again my eyes sought to give way to salty relief lol However this time there was a timely rescue at hand.A gentle influence that caused me to look away,to lift my eyes and look to my left and there to find myself looking into soft gentle calm eyes. Jessica.Jessica’s smile.Thankyou Jess.stevep
