You’ve all probably been getting a bit sick of me describing life on the book tour. So you will be glad to hear that for the last few days I’ve been doing something completely different - sailing and relaxing in the sunshine on Hamilton Island in the Whitsundays!
I’m up here to take part in Hamilton Island Race Week, sailing a SB3 (a 23 foot sports boat) with some friends - Mike, Matt and Sean (see pic below). And in our defence, we’ve only been relaxing, because there’s been very little wind, making training pretty impossible against the strong currents! It’s been so nice to take things a little more slowly after all the craziness of the national book tour.
I’m also up here as an Ambassador for Queensland Tourism’s Season of Sailing promotion. We made the announcement at a media conference yesterday and I’m proud to be endorsing this campaign, where I can hopefully help encourage more people to get involved in sailing.
Today’s the first day of racing for us and we’re looking forward to seeing how we go out on the water against the other boats. So stay tuned and I’ll let you know how we go today and post some pictures from our Lumix cameras!

Nice to see you and team getting dialed in toward the end of the series. ..Super close racing! It was interesting how short the races were, with seconds between boats at the finish line..................... Sounds like you had a great fun week. You deserved it after that killer book signing schedule!................Cheers.........Richard in Maryland

Anywho... it is good to see you are moving up the rankings in the SB3 (SB4?)... more wind helping offset the extra ballast???

Glad you are having fun & talking a break from your whirlwind book tour. Any chance you will get a ride (maybe even drive) on Wild Oats? Speaking of driving... Have you had a go in the Audi competition? It would be nice to take one of those home to Mum & Dad! ...............................................................................................................

Hope you were able to see those wonderful whales up that way, there were amazing clips on the TV. They are here in Hervey Bay as well, amazing to watch.
Have a wonderful time and look forward to your next blog. Keith & Anne, Hervey Bay.
I am reading the book and I like it. Thank you for signing it! I like for example the text on page 268. You write that it is normal to have fears, and that you are not fearless. One must manage them and don't let them stop you if the gain is bigger than the risks. I am a little coward and struggling to do the things I would like to do, and not back off because of too high fear. One must not be totally fearless, that can lead to disaster. You express yourself in such a great way and make a more mature impression than most people of any age.

You and the crew look great in pink! Good luck in the race and enjoy the brief rest.
