Caught you at Hutley Hall North Sydney last Monday. Great afternoon. Hope you didn't mind all those wrinklies. I think I qualify as one. But at 2 pm on a Monday that's a likely audience. Clearly they were all enjoying it. I asked you what do you do for excitement now you're back and you answered...you need to make your own adventure. I'm giving it some thought.

We met in Adelaide today at the book signing, I was about seventh on stage and mentioned that I followed from day one and as Aurora SA my crew fell into your charms and writing, A Big Thank You for the book and for all the encouraging you have given us old salts to keep sailing, even though I had just come out of hospital today following knee surgery I felt inspired by your presence as was most of the crowd. As I have written before I hope my children and grand children read your book, follow their dreams and be able to inspire those around them as you have done. My friend who is 83 yrs old and still sails occasionally has your picture in his boat and has said if Jess can do it then so can we all.

I just read all the posts on your ‘Book Signing’ up to this point) and it sure brought back a lot of good memories of when you were sailing. All the ‘old’ names that came to view got me a little ‘melancholy’ but I dealt with it OK. I might have to sit down someday and re-read all the posts from the beginning of your “dream”. And, what better advertising, than un-solicitated testimony from those of you who've had the chance to read it, or see bits of the documentary! This is one way we can continue to be supportive of Jesse . . . by word-of-mouth, honest, and sincere, positive feedback on her book. What more help could a publisher desire, than that we give a great review of True Spirit; . . . so, don't hold back, let us know what a lot of excitement we'll all be in for as we finally learn just how bad it was out there, and how well Jessica endured the powerful forces she was up against!! I can't wait to hear all about it . . . and read all about it too!

@ Transplanted Aussie: We're all praying for you Stephen, and hope that you;ll have a shorter time over in China. It really looks bad, but just this evening they were able to free a man who had been pinned down for 3 days, I think they said. So, it must be so rewarding for all those, like yourself, who are right where the miracles can be experienced. Stay safe, and know that we're all keeping you in our prayers!!

Excellent, well written book. I am half way through of True Spirit and have obtained a treasured autograph from you, after attending meeting at Mentone Grammar in Melbourne. I hope you will become the Young Australian of Year. Now, have you ever considered to become among other things) a professional writer? I would like at least the next volume written by you. I'm glad that your book tour is going so well, but take care of yourself! That is one crazy schedule!
it was very interesting to hear in your audio interview that you want to try the mini Transat. I saw those boats at the Annapolis boat show last year and was intrigued at the concept.
I hope that when you come to the US that you could give your presentation as part of the National Geographic lecture series in DC. That would be fantastic.

Hey Jesse, just read the latest news report. Your homecoming has got to rate amongst the best as Australia's Favourite Event. I'll certainly be putting my fair share of votes in. Having read your book twice, I think 'True Spirit' sums it up perfectly. I often wondered what you were feeling and how you were coping during those 'not so good times' on the water, and 'mother nature' certainly tested you many times. Conversely, you always found a way to look on the bright side during those tough times, not only on, but off the water as well. In essence, the book illustrates your ability to stay focused and in control and I have no doubts you will carry these traits with you as you embark on future projects. Your writing style made it so easy to follow, even I could not get lost in the flow. Good luck with the rest of the book signings Jesse. Great photos Jess! Your book tour is going so well, you look wonderful and everyone who meets you says the same thing – she is just so natural, beautiful and generous with her time. I have nearly finished reading True Spirit and it’s a triumph Jess. I thought it would be great and it is. I’ve seen three different previews for the documentary so far and it is going to be riveting, all that footage we haven’t seen – sorry for the teasers Carol!

Bought your book in Broken Hill for my 12 year old neighbour Ellie's 12th birthday. My plan is to borrow it either as soon as she opens the wrapping paper or at the very least, as soon as she's read it. I'm sure it will be an inspirational read for both of us !! You're still my current hero.
