It's my sister's 18th birthday today so first off, happy birthday Emily!! It's the second year running that I've been away, so I'll have to find a special way to make up for the late presents next year!
Loving the fast sailing at the moment. It's a bit breezy and the sea is up enough to give Ella's Pink Lady something to surf. She's really dancing along, climbing up each wave, surfing down and rolling with the gusts of wind. But it's not too uncomfortable with the wind gusting to just over 30knots and the third reef in the mainsail. The sun is out again after a drizzly overcast night and morning, which means the waves are a lovely shade of turquoise blue and the streaky white caps look pretty, rather than menacing. I'm finding it a bit hard to concentrate on anything much at the moment, because of frequent glances at the log displaying our speed. I keep catching myself watching it, as our speed ranges from 6 to 9 knots and occasionally shooting higher as each wave rolls past. I think I may have confused a few people yesterday saying that there are only 4,200nm till Australia, that's only till we're under Cape Leeuwin in West Australia. Sydney's still a long way after that and that's not accounting for any of the likely zig-zagging around weather systems. Not much else to report, so I'll finish up for today.
Jesse

Hiya Jesse, Gee its good to see ya. Sorry I have missed posting for a while. Still think about you everyday. I am so glad I have the day off tomorrow, so I will be reading and catching up on all of your news. Great to see you are still so positive and up beat.
What is that saying, “a rolling stone gathers no moss, except the zipper on your pants may experience some corrosion”…….
Checked your voyage map today at work… Wow… you are sneaking up on home, and how good is it to see all those pink Ella flags all around the world, coming home. I have my voyage chart on the wall, it is a lot larger then what I thought it would be, but I have been sticking on the stickers as we/you go…
Title for your book, I would like to add mine to the large list …. “Pass the Line”
It is inspired by your story you told us when you talked of how when you were young fellow yachties would not hand you the “line” to tie down their boats / yacht. Only because they thought you were a mere kid….they helped shape your determination… I loved that story.
Well look at what you have achieved, you had to pass the line of other people’s negative opinion, you went passed the line of dealing with loneliness, fear, fatigue, to achieve your dream….You did every longitude and latitude line and you also took your support crew and family ‘pass the line’ with you.!!! Irrespective of the name of the book, I want to buy two, one for never opening, to keep it perfect, and one to read.
mmmm…maybe that is a good name…”keep it perfect”. “perfect in pink”…I could go on and on….so must go.
Need to go read heaps and heaps…..see you tomorrow. Have fun Jesse, Cheers Paula

I guess I am a little slow... I just found out about your sailing yesterday. My mom was telling me about it... you are truly an amazing young lady! It must take a lot of bravery and courage to complete such a task.
I am a high school teacher just outside of Vancouver, Canada and I can not imagine what it must take for a 16 year old to go on such a journey all alone. Thank goodness for the technology that allows connection between you and your family and friends!
I hope you stay well and best of luck on the final portion of your travels.
Enjoy the waves,
Kristen
Back to the good old days of monsoons and lows...nothing strange about this weather and it's been made welcome in drought-affected areas. South-west Qld has been copping a lot.
The Winter Olympics came to a close yesterday. 16 days of competitors showing the world their talents and positiveness of heart will be missed. The skating, in particular, of course, was wonderful to watch.
I hope all is well with you, Jess and that you're not taking any unnecessary risks. Please take care. We all miss you and your word pictures....stay safe.
You must be busy out there. Just want you to know we're thinking of you
Take care,

Keeping an eye out for your next post. Hope everything is going OK. Stay safe and sail on.

Sure would like to get a post from you, you didn’t drop your Toughbook overboard did you?
Loads of love and hugs, your faithful friend, fan and follower.
May God be with you and watch over you and may the angels keep your sails full, and I, I will keep you in my prayers.

How to use html to format your text:
To create a paragraph, put the characters open angle bracket < , the letter p, and close angle bracket > before the text comprising the paragraph. At the end of the text, close off the paragraph with the character sequence open angle bracket <, forward slash /, p, close angle bracket >.
You can force a line break using open angle bracket <, letter b, letter r, forward slash /, close angle bracket >.
See the example below, where I have inserted some single quotes around the first angle bracket to turn off the formatting. This lets you see the "raw" format. I follow this with text containing the proper html tags, as they are called, (meaning I took out those single quotes). The tags are now interpreted as formatting commands.
The best way to do this is to use a text editor to compose your message, inserting html tags as appropriate. Now save the file with an .html extension (example: test.html), and use your browser to open the file. Your browser should parse the tags, and show you the formatted text. If it doesn't appear the way you want it to, go back and fix it. Once it looks good, copy and paste the text with html tags into the comment section on the web site.
